September 13-14, 2011 - Querciolo Mazzonis visits the Generalate

Querciolo Mazzonis, who resides in Rome, is a lecturer at the Università degli Studi di Siena.  Professor Mazzonis addressed about 50 Ursuline Sisters from all over the world on the topic of Angela Merici.  In looking at the religious and historical culture of the time, he placed Angela and the founding of her Company in the context of feminine spirituality and the experiences of the sacred.  He highlighted the role women could have as "active" mystics while living and being in a society that limited women's possibilitites, yet could remain virgins dedicated to God, outside the institutional structures.
