Flood in Poland
Following intensive rain in the south of Poland and in the Czech Republic, both the Vistula and Odra rivers flooded large tracts of Poland from the Tatra and Sudeten Mountains to the Baltic Sea causing devastation and destruction. The whole South of Poland including hundreds of towns, villages and farms, were flooded. Thousands of people were evacuated from their homes. Many have lost their homes, farmers, crops and animals and some have lost their lives. Among the cities fighting these flood waters are Cracow, Sandomierz, Lanckorona, Warsaw, Torun, and Wroclaw. Units of firemen, soldiers and voluntary rescuers are working day and night on the flood banks. The victims of the flood needed help urgently so a large national and international solidarity action group has already started to meet their needs - supplying them with drinking water, food, clothes etc. Several of our sisters are involved helping people, for example: the Ursulines in Wroclaw joined in the action on Whitsunday preparing hundreds of sandwiches, coffee and tea for many of the rescue teams.
Human suffering is unimaginable and the material losses enormous.

Jamaica : We are concerned about the situation in Kingston, Jamaica. The violence caused by those who deal in drugs and in arms has caused the death of many people, mostly civilians.
The government of Jamaica is attempting to control the violence and restore some sense of security though minimal.
So far the violence has not occurred in the area where our three Ursuline sisters live. We continue to pray for the people, the government and for our sisters in Jamaica.
Venezuela: The general situation is very tense due to the implementation of the political socialization towards some major corporations and companies operating in Venezuela’s mineral resources in links with certain countries.
The bishops of Venezuela have publicly reacted against the desecration of Christian symbols in many places.
We ask that you keep in your prayers our three sisters, the people of Venezuela and those responsible for these actions.
