RECYCLING AT THE GENERALATE
Two years ago the generalate communities began a program of recycling. This included recycling paper, glass, plastic and metal products and separating them into containers that would then be deposited in the recycling bins provided by the city of Rome.
Beginning in November of this year, 2010, it was decided that these efforts on recycling would be taken a step forward. The key words in this renewed project are:
Reduce Reuse Recycle
All of the sisters living in the Generalate: the Generalate Community, the General Council Community and the International Tertianship, are making a conscious effort to:
· Reduce by decreasing the size, volume of the things we wish to recycle or discard; this takes up less space and thus reduces the volume of things to be recycled or discarded;
· Reuse by using clean paper for notes, using paper back and front, etc. before finally recycling the paper;
· Recycle separating glass, metal, plastic, etc. for recycling by the city of Rome as well composting.
Great progress is made by taking small steps; we hope that this small step of reverence for use of all things will contribute to a better world.
